Update for September – A New Way of Making Money, $50 Authority Starter Sites, and The Mike From Maine Show is born!

I’m writing this revenue report as a way to let people know what’s really feasible when making money online. Anyone who says it’s easy is either a liar or really lucky. It can get “easier” over time, but it takes a lot of hard work and money spent. At the same time I include both income and expenses so that you can see what the real profits amount to in total.

I apologize for putting this out quite late this month, but if any of you have been paying attention to my website lately you’ll notice that the last month and a half have been quite busy. I’ve been producing a new show episode every day since the end of September, so it’s been a bit hectic on my end learning the ropes.

I’m very pleased with my profit for this month considering that my Adsense was super low with all the sites I’ve sold off and the fact that the Google EMD update hit at the end of the month. Most of my income came through selling a lot of my cheaper sites in the $50 range to an audience looking to build smaller sites into authority sites.

A new way of making money?

I’ve really been getting into CPA ads and PPC advertising lately. I’ve started seeing some results, but I’m still spending more than I’m making. Stay tuned to see some results in October or November. If you’re interested in learning more check out Jonathan Smith’s interview about making money with CPA.

$50 Authority Starter Sites

For those of you who watch the show you should know about my Authority Starter Sites for sale. I’ve decided to sell my portfolio of over 600 websites as a way to fund my new Internet marketing ventures. I’ve offered them at super-cheap prices and I’ve gotten a great initial response.

A new direction for MikeFromMaine.com

September will be my last month of building niche websites on a mass scale for a while now. I’ve decided to mostly focus on learning new ways of making money online, thus the impetus for starting The Mike From Maine Show in late September. Even before the latest Google update hit I felt the need to start diversifying my income, and I’m really glad I did. It just goes to show you that the rug can be pulled out from under you at any time…and it’s happened to me before.

What is The Mike From Maine Show?

My main goal for The Mike From Maine Show is to interview successful entrepreneurs making money online. I truly feel that there are sooooo many ways for people to make a decent living online, but sometimes we just need a little help going in the right direction. I hope that you will all benefit from the free information that my guests provide in the interviews. And I promise I will NEVER CHARGE MONEY for these interviews or require you to sign up for anything.
🙂
How am I going to make money in the future?

My plan for the future is to keep bringing on great guests and earn money with the occasional affiliate sale that I include in the video and in the show notes. I’m also hoping to get some sponsors in the future so that I can keep providing quality shows, but at the same time I need to earn some money to keep food on the table. I figure that if I stick with my main goal of providing quality content for my readers that the money will eventually come in. If any of your are interested in sponsoring my show please let me know 🙂

That’s all for now…I’ll be putting out another income report for October in the next couple weeks so I don’t want to give EVERYTHING away now. Thank you all for your support, and don’t forget to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and sign up for updates every time there’s a new show!

  1. Nice update and it’s great to see your progress with the show. Wow, ambitious doing a daily show like that. I don’t know how I missed seeing those but I’ll pay more attention going forward. I have been a bit distracted myself trying to get my Twitter ebook launched on Kindle.

As you mentioned, it’s a great goal to focus on producing great content for your readers. That’s what I’m doing on my site, Ingenious Internet Income. It’s a lot of work but I hope that it starts paying off and putting food on the table at our house too.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing future progress!

    1. Yeah, it’s way down, but likely I have other sources of income coming in to make up for it. How’s yours?

  2. Good to hear that. I’m focusing now on affiliate marketing.. but am not making so much $ at the moment. My biggest earners where hit by the recent algo updates … kind a frustrating..

  3. Mike , glad to know that you are up to new things and opportunities. Just for the record, you have a slight problem with your Newsletter box after each post. I have recorded a short video to see what I mean.
    Regards

    1. Kiril,

Thanks for stopping by. That’s the way the optin box is supposed to be. It’s part of the Optin Plugin that Pat Flynn recommends.

  4. Damn, Mike! You are rocking it! Interesting to see how your revenue stream breaks down. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Alexa,

Making money from the interviews has been the hardest part so far. I want to provide value to my readers/viewers, but I also need to make a living. How’s your monitizing going?

      1. Ha, well considering I have nothing to sell at the moment, my monetization is not going. I feel like I need to be growing my audience more before I start selling… I’ll probably need to team up with someone awesome who has a decent following and do some sort of a case study/webinar with that person.

  5. Hi there Mike, sorry about the Muslim celebration, if not I would have concluded our transaction. Looks like CPA and PPC will require upfront investment capital. That will be a little big for me right now but am here anyways so it won’t do any harm for me to pay attention as you go through them. My strategy is in three directions. I know building authority sites takes time, so I put that down as a long term goal. Then for my short term goals that will help put food on the table, am going with affiliate marketing and producing e-books for Amazon. What do you think? One thing I don’t know is how all the Google upgrades affect affiliate sites

    1. No problem, Ejeke.I think that strategy will be good, especially if you don’t want to spend too much money.

  6. Great month Mike, you are always a pioneer on new ways of making a name for yourself and developing new streams of income online.

    Thanks For All you Do!!!

    Brent

    1. Thanks, Brent.

I’m hoping that you’ll be able to pick up on something that you can make money from yourself. How are your ventures going?

      1. Things are going good, I have a few sites that lost their ranking starting to make a come back, I have been focusing on creating more and diversed backlinks. I have noticed that the income generated per click has increased greatly since the EMD update, I only need half the number of conversions as before to make the same money. I am working on a authority site but have not published anything yet, I do not want to do so until I have at least 20 pages of quality/origional content.

        Brent

        1. Brent,

I’d suggest publishing the content slowly over time. That just seems to be more natural.

          1. Thanks Mike,

I will give it a try, what is your feeling about publishing 3-4 articles a week?

            Brent

  7. Mike,

I enjoy your interviews. Are you pretty much done with adsense websites? Also, the ones for sale how would they benifit us it they got hit with the EMD penalty? Do we just keep adding content, backlinks etc?

    Thanks

    1. Barry,

Thanks. Yes, I’m not currently building Adsense sites. I’d suggest taking the sites I have for sale and building them out as authority sites by adding content and high quality links.

  8. Hopefully CPA works for you…I would love to get into it. LOve the interviews…already bought through your link:)

    1. Jill,

I’ve got something special in the works for CPA stuff…stay tuned.

      Thanks for your support!

  9. You should take part in a contest for one of the most useful
blogs on the internet. I most certainly will recommend this
    site!
