Every month I publish an income report…why? Good question 🙂
1. Accountability
With all the shiny objects out there it’s easy to spend WAY more than you’re earning. Luckily I realized this early on and I’ve kept detailed records of my expenses ever since. That being said, I know that there are certain expenses that are NECESSARY when running a business. As much as I don’t want to pay for them, I need to pay for my email autoresponder, website hosting, and video hosting every month. It’s just a part of doing business. There are other things that I buy as well, but I try my best to keep my expenses SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than my revenue. If I can do that then I’m ahead of the game.
2. Integrity
On my show I ask my guests a lot of personal questions. One that frequently comes up is “How much do you make?”. I feel like I need to reveal my own income if I’m going to be asking others the same question. It only seems right.
3. Perspective
There are a lot of online marketers out there who fake-it-till-they-make-it. In other words, they fudge their numbers and exaggerate their earnings in order to establish false authority in their niche. My goal is that by watching my income grow slowly over time you’ll realize that there is no get-rich-quick button.

It’s been WAAAAAAY too long since my last income report. I guess I just kept putting it off and letting it pile up.
A Time of Reflection (2015 in review)
2015 was a big year for me. My biggest ever. I ended up making approximately $416,643.28 before taxes.
$416,643.28!!!
As I sit here staring at that number it seems impossibly huge, and something that I would never have even dreamed about three years ago when I started the Mike From Maine Show.
I mean, let’s look at the first two years:
In 2013, the first full year of the show, I brought in a total of $16,749.54.
In 2014 I made a total of $190,917.56.
With 2015 being $416,643.28, I don’t know if I’ll be able to realistically continue at this growth rate. Can I make $1,000,000 in 2016? At the rate I’m going so far it will definitely be a reach, but we’ll see 🙂
What was 2015 my best year yet?
Plain and simple, I got out of my comfort zone.
In 2014 my primary income was from affiliate marketing with a total of $142,633.76, and the other $48,283.80 coming from launching my own products and coaching.
Well, in 2015 that changed.
I still made $285,992.17 from affiliate marketing (more than doubling my results from 2014), but I also added approximately $120,000 in income along with adding over 10,000 new email subscribers from participating in product launches.
How many new info products and software did I personally create in 2015?
Zero!
Instead I teamed up with software developers to help them bring their products to market and get more sales.
This transition from being just an affiliate marketer to a product creator/JV manager is THE reason why my income increased so much in 2015.
What WERE my goals for 2015?
1. Be easily making $50,000 per month by December, 2015 DIDN’T ACHIEVE
To have hit this goal I would have to had made $600,000 in 2015. It was quite a big goal, but I missed it by an average of $16,000 per month. It’s better to aim big and miss, right? 🙂
2. Build my email list to 100,000 subscribers DIDN’T ACHIEVE
This was another big goal, and somewhat unrealistic. I was able to take my email list from 11,627 subscribers at the beginning of January to 20,189 by the end of December. I was able to almost DOUBLE my subscriber list and aggressively promote on a daily basis at the same time.
3. Buy an apartment and pay it off in full ACHIEVED!!!
This one I was able to achieve, but it stressed me out. I had my $170k apartment paid off by March, but even having a bit of debt gave me headaches. Unfortunately we weren’t able to move in until November since there was a previous tenant living there, but at least I haven’t had to pay rent for about a year now.
4. Have at least $100,000 in liquid assets (savings) by December, 2015 ACHIEVED!!!
I literally have ZERO debt now and very minimal living expenses. Because of this, I was able to save well over $100k by the end of 2015. Now I’m at the point where I’m considering intelligent ways of investing.
5. Write and publish a Kindle book in my name DIDN’T ACHIEVE
This was a goal that I didn’t really have my heart in. I can’t say that I’m too disappointed that I didn’t achieve it as I never really even tried. Maybe some day in the future I’ll publish a book, but it will be on the back burner for 2016.
6. Outsource and publish 100 Kindle books as an alternative income source DIDN’T ACHIEVE
I used to have a little obsession with creating hundreds of Kindle books and making a couple bucks per month from each book. I’ve got four Kindle books that I had created in 2014, and they made a total of around $200 in 2015. These books each cost me around $50 each to have written by an outsourcer. The funny thing is, now that I look at those numbers, I can see the potential in paying $500 to have 10 more written and see if they make back my initial investment in 12 months. After they make back the money spent to have them created it’s all gravy, right?. This is a PERFECT opportunity for anyone looking for a business plan OUTSIDE of the Make Money Online niche.
I did an interview with Stefan Pylarinos back in 2014 who is an EXPERT at creating multiple Kindle books. You can watch his interview HERE.
7. Spend $10,000 on solo ads, document the results, and launch it as a product (would you buy it?) DIDN’T ACHIEVE
This is one of those projects that I keep finding excuses NOT to do. Brendan Mace recently did a Youtube video where he shares how he made $891.06 in profit from spending $384 on 12 solo ads. This video DEFINITELY gets me excited due to the fact that solo ad traffic is NOT garbage, and that there are definitely people willing to take out their credit cards and buy. Expect to eventually see a similar experiment from me as well.
8. Set up an auto-webinar sequence to funnel in leads from Facebook DIDN’T ACHIEVE
I spent almost $500 on a software to do this and I NEVER even used it. I have no excuse for this.
What ARE my goals for 2016?
1. Be easily making $50,000 per month by December, 2016
2. Build my email list to 50,000 active subscribers
3. Have at least $500,000 in liquid assets (savings) by December, 2016
4. Invest 10% of my income BACK into my business every single month
5. Launch at least 6 software and training products
6. Create a REVAMPED high ticket coaching program
7. Get my weight down to 175 lbs (currently 186 lbs) and my body fat to 20% (currently 24.6%)
8. Read or listen to 2 business books per month
9. Read or listen to 2 fiction books per month
Overall I’m extremely happy with how 2015 went, and I’m optimistic for the future. See you in my March income report…which I’ll have out on TIME 🙂
Oh, and here are some pictures from December, January, and February…enjoy!

Thanks, Neil. You’ve got to be one of the MOST interviewed guests on my show 🙂
Mike, I just want to say a big THANK YOU. I recently bought my first product from you and Brett and in addition to the product itself you gave fantastic value in the training webinar.
I’ve also bought a product you were promoting and again terrific additional value from you in training and additional bonuses.
I have been through your story and your journey income wise and you inspire me to keep grinding away at affiliate marketing. I am new to AM and although I have another online biz, affiliate marketing has been my nemesis for quite a while now. However, seeing your journey unfold in front of my eyes and listening to you has inspired me. For me it’s also a confidence boost to see you do this from where you live. I myself am an expat, from the UK, now living in Cyprus. Almost without exception everyone else I follow who is successful is either based in the US or the UK and I was beginning to think this was an essential element to success. I see in you that this does not have to be the case.
It is a good feeling when you connect with someone and feel that you can trust what they are telling you. There is so much hype out there in the IM world it’s almost a full time job just filtering out the B.S.
I wish you continued success in 2016 and I look forward to following your journey and if you don’t mind I will have you as my muse.
Thank you for the kind words, Jane.
I think we have an advantage in being expats as our money goes further in the countries we live in. That’s why you see all these people living in Chang Mai, Thailand since they can survive on less money while building their dream.
Whatever direction you go in, just make sure you start out with realistic goals, and I hope from look at my journey you’ll realize that success definitely doesn’t happen overnight 🙂
Thanks for watching!
Hi Mike, I particularly thought it was enlightening when you said that you thought the reason you achieved more is because you forced yourself out of your comfort zone.
A few quick questions… How did that make you feel to be pushing harder than you felt accustomed to, and have you adapted to this new level as your new comfort zone?
I thought numbers were interesting, but the process you wrote about is far more educating to me. Thanks for the transparency.

Those were the good old days.
Wow you’ve definitely cracked this online business thing, proves it can be done.
I’m just getting started not made any money yet, but keep getting distracted by the next shiney things
Thanks, Simon. Just pick on thing and stick with it.
